Beach Picnic Engagement Session

This morning I had a wonderful shoot with a lovely couple- Amy +Chris. We began our rustic beach engagement shoot at 9am. We decided to shoot at Sunset Cliffs and it was a gorgeous blue morning. I can’t put into words how excited I was for this engagement shoot! Amy put a ton of thought and hard work  into creating some awesome props that really captured the personality of the couple and also gave the shoot a theme and direction starting out. This made for some really awesome photos and a very fun, creative morning!

We started shooting, using a Tandem Bike as our main prop! What a fun detail for a couple who both enjoy staying active together! Amy may seem cute and girly, but she is totally the type of girl who will get down and dirty and go night fishing with Chris! It’s totally obvious by the way they look at one another that they are an absolutely perfect match!

Amy and Chris met about a year after Amy moved to San Diego from Pennsylvania. The couple met through a friend, but were also neighbors! After three great years together, they have set their date and are tying the knot this coming September!

Amy is definitely artistic! The couple made signs with their wedding date so that they could use the shots to make Save-the-Dates to send to their friends + family. We incorporated these signs into various shots throughout the day. I loved how the signs were all a bit different, but similar in style. This made for a variety of cohesive shots that look like they have a solid idea behind them!

Some of my favorite shots were taken of a lovely picnic brunch Amy + Chris put together. The shade was perfect and you certainly can’t beat the pacific view! Moments like these are definitely meant to be remembered.

Having a lot of options to work with during the shoot made it easy to keep moving at a good pace. It never seemed as though we had run out of options or ideas; and as I am beginning to edit their engagement session, it’s clear they will have lots to choose from! Even the straws in their orange juice are adorable!

We eventually lost a straw…

These two were obviously at home in each others arms. The last shot of the day, they are relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous afternoon. We all know that it is only the beginning, and there will definitely be many more romantic afternoons for these two!

Of course, this shoot ended with a toast! To Amy + Chris!
