List of Items to Bring on your Wedding Day for Flay Lay Photos
I made a the checklist of wedding day details we send to brides before their wedding day so they don’t forget anything! Detail items like this are special, so you will want to be sure to pack a bag ahead of time with all your items to give to your photographer when they arrive on your wedding day. Here are a couple of extra tips to help you as you prepare:
Put everything in one bag/shoebox. Then you can just hand it over to your photographer when they arrive. It majorly saves on time & stress.
Send a photo of all your details laid out to your photographer ahead of time, as you are packing your bag. I have lots of great styling items and seeing your details ahead of time helps me to know exactly what I should bring from my inventory to help tell your story.
Request styling florals from your florist ahead of time. You can purchase just a few buds or ask if they have any broken stems to leave them for your photographer. It is likely you photographer will pop the flowers off the stems anyway, so it generally works out to make use of the broken ones if you florist will allow you to do so.
Grab dress scraps from your dress alterations. It can add beautiful layered texture to flat lays of your bridal accessories. I have also seen bride’s use their scraps in creative ways after the wedding is over to have keepsakes made.
It doesn’t matter if you actually wear it at your wedding. If it’s a detail that holds significance, it’s great to include in your photos. Maybe you were given a special gift or want a piece of jewelry included that belonged to a loved one as a way to include them in your story. All those things are wonderful things to include.
Items to include in your details bag:
ring boxes & rings
2 copies of your invitation suite
shoes
jewelry
hair accessories
veil
any heirloom items- handkerchiefs, ring dish, etc.
extra florals (you can ask your florist if you can buy a few extras if you don’t already have them)
garter
perfume
scrap material from alterations
any detail that helps tell the story- even if you don’t physically wear it on your wedding day
Detail photos are not just for brides! I love when grooms have things for me to photograph in a flat lay. If you want a details photo of Groom items, throw all your things in one bag so that I can make it happen.
