Engagement Session at Cabrillo National Monument
This engagement session at Cabrillo National Monument is a recent favorite of mine. Caroline and Brandon are a really wonderful pair, who loves to make each other laugh. Cabrillo National Monument is such a great location for an engagement photo session. The views are incredible and lighthouse is such a fun element to work with. I have photographed this location at all different times of the day, but I have to say Caroline & Brandon had a serious advantage when they chose a morning session time at this particular location.
We lined up at the gate and waited for the park to open at 9:00am. The early morning light wasn't too harsh, and the biggest advantage- the entire park was almost completely empty. Only a handful of cars had been waiting alongside us to get in at the very first moment the park opened. Photographs that would normally be extremely difficult and time consuming to execute were suddenly an option. The portrait on the lighthouse stairs can only be accomplished when the stairs are completely empty- not impossible on an ordinary day, but it was fantastic that we didn't have to wait for anyone.

Tips for your Cabrillo National Monument Engagement Session:
- No permit required for engagements, but you do need permits to get married there!
- Parking costs $10 per car, but the parking pass will get you into the park for 7 days
- Go back while your pass is still valid an explore the park! There is so much to do and see; and everything is really awesome. Worth it.
- Be prepared to walk! The parking lot is down the hill from the lighthouse. If you plan on wearing uncomfortably adorable shoes, bring a spare pair so you can move quickly between locations.It just takes a few moments to change shoes, and you will move around much faster.Seriously. Huge time-saver.
