Colorful Over-the-Rhine Engagement Session
It was the week last week in November, and when I got into my car to head to my early morning engagement session appointment in Cincinnati, everything was blanketed in a fresh layer of snow. The first snow of the year was short-lived, and in the 45 minutes it took me to drive from Dayton to Ziegler Park, the snow had completely melted away. As usual, Ohio weather was unpredictable. Shannon and Mike came prepared for anything, as you should for any outdoor winter photo session- especially in Ohio, with coats and sweaters. Not only would they stay warm on that chilly morning, but they could also get more than one look simply by taking off their coats for a few of the photos- brilliant!
Our engagement session began at Ziegler Park; where the last bits of fall lingered in the trees. During our photo session, we ventured around Over-the-Rhine, looking for fun little spots to take photos along the way. The neighborhood there is bright and covered in art. It’s one of those urban backgrounds where the old architecture meets new designs to create a truly unique vibe. For Shannon & Mike, it’s one of their favorite places because it’s where their story begins. Mike didn’t feel like having anyone over that fateful night, but thanks to his roommate, he ended up in a conversation with Shannon, whom he would eventually ask to be his wife. What better place to capture their engagement story than where everything started.
What an incredible adventure we had that morning! In just a short walk around a few blocks, so many great little spots for photos popped up. If you are looking for a bright and fun location for your engagement photos, I definitely recommend considering a photo walk through Over-the-Rhine. It’s modern and cool in the best way. Stay tuned for more of this love story. I can’t wait to photograph Shannon & Mike’s big day later this year!
