I am so excited to share a few images from a recent engagement session at Scripp's Pier in La Jolla, California. These two lovebirds recently got married at The San Diego Children's Museum, and I had to honor of capturing their gorgeous day! Daniel & Dokyung opted to do their engagement session after the wedding craziness was over, and the result was a very relaxed and stress-free. I love how these turned out. La Jolla has some of the best locations in San Diego for engagement sessions, and Scripp's Pier is one of my favorite beaches in San Diego.

Fall or winter is probably the best time of year to have your engagement session at a San Diego beach. The beaches are sometimes crowded around sunset with families taking their photos for Holiday Greeting Cards, but the sunsets are so colorful and the tides are low at the right time of day to catch the gorgeous sunset reflected in the wet sand. It's totally worth it. The crowds disappear by mid-December, and the beach gets really empty. As long as you plan your session with your photographer, you should be able to get any must have shots (ie- that shot you want under the pier, which is the busiest spot on this beach), regardless of crowds. There really is a ton of space and incredible landscape- plenty of room for everyone!

I also love that Dokyung & Daniel were totally prepared for this session. They brought a blanket, which is great for chilly sunsets at the beach. Whether you use it for wrapping up, or just to sit down on for a bit- it's a great simple prop for a beach engagement session. They also made sure their outfit change was quick and easy, and both outfits were suitable for the weather. There is no reason to be cold and miserable at your session! The beach is chilly in the off season, and it's so important to dress appropriately to get those beautiful, relaxed moments you are going for!

Enjoy this San Diego engagement session on the beach! A huge congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs.! Wishing you a happiest ever after!
